FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

If you're a tradesperson

1. Why should I be on Licensed NZ?

Licensed NZ supports professional tradespeople and Trade Associations by providing an easy to use, central search engine for the public to find tradespeople that are members of trade associations. We also run a blog for trade associations to submit articles that will promote themselves and educate the public about their industries. If you wish to be found among a group like this then you need to be listed here. This is a great site to be on, it provides great networking and promotional opportunities for yourself and others you know, and gets your business in front of the right customers.

2. I am not a member of an Association, can I join Licensed NZ?

Unfortunately, no, the purpose of Licensed NZ is to make sure that professional tradespeople that are members of Associations are given the greatest exposure to the public. If you are a serious tradesperson, then you should look at joining your relevant industry Association.

3. My Association is not listed on the Associations page. Can I still join and advertise my business?

Yes as a tradesperson, you are welcome to join and promote your own business even if your Association is not listed. You still need to provide proof you are a current member of the relevant Association for your trade though.

4. I am a member of an Association, but I cannot see it on Licensed NZ. Why is my Association not listed?

In order not to imply incorrectly that we are supported by any particular Association, we only show promotional profiles and pages for Associations that have chosen to create a profile and to contribute.

If your Association is not listed and it is a genuine and relevant trade Association, then we would love to get in touch with them to discuss promoting them. Please contact us at support@licensed.nz with more details and we will start the process.

5. I have registered but why I am not showing up in searches?

Your profile may not be complete yet or we have not seen proof of your membership in an Association. If you do not see your listing in 24 hours, please contact us at support@licensed.nz and we will get in touch with you to verify your membership.

6. What trades does Licensed NZ cover?

Licensed NZ covers most trades that have trade Associations existing.

7. I lost my password. Can I have it reset?

Yes, please click the "Forgot my password" option on the "Sign In" page and follow the instructions. For your security we do not store copies of passwords so it will need to be completely reset.

8. My trade does not have an Association. What can I do?

Please get in touch with us at support@licensed.nz, as we may know of an Association that has a suitable membership category covering your trade.

9. I have a question not covered by the FAQ, where can I ask this?

Please contact us at support@licensed.nz

10. What does it cost to advertise on Licensed NZ?

We offer the first month for free, after which depending on which option you choose when setting up your profile the charges are $30 per month or $365 per year. We offer a secure payment gateway for you to easily setup a recurring payment. Invoices are sent at the beginning of the month.

If you're looking for a tradesperson

1. How do I know a tradesperson is good?

In order to join an Association, a tradesperson has to pass background checks and scrutiny. Each Association keeps an eye on members and responds if there are complaints about members actions. It is in their best interest to weed out any bad operators.

2. I want to send a review about a tradesperson I found on Licensed NZ, how can I do that?

Unlike other websites, we do not rank our members based on reviews or popularity. Reviews can be biased, or even fraudulent as is common on other websites for tradespeople. We do not believe it is in the best interest of the public or the tradesperson to allow reviews to be published.
However, if you wish to send a review about a trades business on Licensed NZ, you can email it to support@licensed.nz and we will be happy to pass it on to the business concerned.

3. I found someone on your site that I think should not be listed. What can I do?

It depends on your reason for thinking this. We will take each case seriously. Please contact us at support@licensed.nz to discuss this more. We will treat your inquiry with confidence.

4. Does Licensed NZ have trades input or is it just another website listing tradies?

Our founder voluntarily serves on the executive committee of a trade Association and has over 27 years of “on the tools” experience in 2 trades. Another Director has similar experience. The observation has been that all trade Associations have the same issues in marketing their members to the public. We also offer the opportunity for all trade Associations listed on our site to actively contribute to the Licensed NZ Blog with educational and timely articles.

5. Does Licensed NZ have anyone in my area?

Do a search for trade type and find out using our "near me" feature. If there is not a person near you, then please use the email form provided and we will try to find a local professional for your job within 24 hours.
